When I downloaded the kernel.zip from here: http://www.r4dscards.co.uk/R4i-DS-Card/ I followed the instructions: 1)Extract the files to the memory card USB. 2) extract your games. and PLAY
but whenever I put the files onto my memory card and then add a knew game, I start up my R4i (Which is read as Star Wars ) it loads a black screen on the bottom and then on the top it reads:

please help I ordered my memory card on the 28th of December and arrived today (02/01/2010)

i am having trouble geting it to work ive downloaded the files alot and evry time i do i umzip the folder and all it dose is says loading on my ds one other thing i have a dsi and an r4i GOLD and i have no clue what the root of the memry card is if possible could you try and tell me how to get to the root of my 16gb sdhc r4i gold card

ive tryed that website and it dose not work i downloaded the kernal and it didnt work on the dsi it still says LOADING... and wont change or do anything else please help i have spent almost a week trying to figue this out minus school, food, and sleep

never mind i downloaded 7 zip and decopressed it and i now have it working but all that comes up is the menue the other stuff you have to download sepratly from the same website im asuming but that website worked for the dsi i havent tryed it on the ds yet but thakx for the help and if i screw up the kernol with the other stuff i put on there ill be right back here for help

Hi I'm having a similar problem. I have bought a R4i Upgrade for my DSi and have followed the link for the download for www.R4I-SDHC.COM and then followed all the instructions. The files have gone onto my memory card fine but when I put the card onto my dsi I get the normal screen but an icon for star wars lethal alliance Ubisoft and when I click on it I get a blank screen and menu on it??? Please can you help as I am pulling my hair out! :-( Thanks.

I have also got this problem with my r4i card. It worked at first and my son played his games, it was switched off but when switched on again i had the same black bottom screen and red sim card ? menu on the top screen. Think all the games must be on there somewhere as the Star Wars name comes up to say dsi card inserted, but cannot find any games. I plug the sim card into computer but it comes up blank....Someone help please!!!!

You either need the software for the R4i card or the R4i Upgrade card - does your card have the words UPGRADE written on it anywhere? If so then use the upgrade software, otherwise use just the R4i one.

Hi - I think you need the kernel for the R4i Gold which, as far as we know, is from one of two sites. Go to this post and choose the second link from the www.r4ids.com site.

Hi Laneozzy,
From the looks of what you say is happening this usually means that you have installed the incorrect software or have installed the right one incorrectly. THe R4i does not attempt to load the kernel until you click star wars from the DSi menu so the fact that you get that far does not mean that your card has ben setup correctly. Even if the micro sd was empty you would still get that far. SO the steps are:
1) Check that you downloaded the correct software from r4i-sdhc.com.
2) Reply here with a screenshot of what your Micro SD card has saved onto it, I may be able to help if I can see what you have in the root of the card

Hi ang73,
It seems from what you say - that something bad has happened with your R4 that has caused it to wipe the micro sd card. All you can do now is start again, re-install the kernel and copy your files across once again. :-(
