i keep getting this message when trying to load my games for my two sons. press the POWER button to turn the system off. Please refer to Nintendo DSi Operation Manual for details. The manual tells you to ring Nintendo but im sure they will not help me. further to reading some comments on your website. i think its somthing to do with firmare on dsi (1.4) can anyone tell me when r4i software will be up dated or is there anything else i can do to make my cards work and make my sons smile?

I get the exact same message when I put my wifes r4card from her DSI in my new one that I got for Christmas. I have set up many an R4 card and never seen this message before. I cant even my new R4sdhc V1.4 card to work on any of the DSI's, just come up with menu and ? sign. I have tried all the latest kernells, and I have managed to get them all to work on the wifes old R4 card, works perfect on hers, but mine comes up with the error. I am confused, it seems like maybe nintendo have prevented R4 card loading, and possibly the new r4 card i have is btoken as I cant get it work on either dsi.

Re Deecee post above. I purchased a Dsi xl as a birthday present. When it arrived I opened it to make sure it all worked well. For the first hour or so all i got was the error message telling me to press the power button. I boxed it up and took it back to the local store. Toys r Us. They switched it on and off for half an hour and the message never appeared. They were unable to connect to the stores wireless connection though. They swapped the item for another just incase it was faulty. When i got home, I opened up the new dsi xl and switched it on. Same error message again. I phoned Nintendo who claimed they had never heard of this complaint before. I went upstairs while speaking to them on the phone and the console worked the first time i tried it. Went back down stairs and it came up with the error message again. The nintendo help team summised that it could be something to do with my BT Homehub version 1.5 and suggested changing the wireless settings. I have never bothered doing that and I still get the message sometimes. After searching the net i found a couple of forums where others had experienced the same problem and returned the dsi xl to the store. some like myself are on their 3rd console or more. all this happend before i had inserted the r4i gold card into the console. The only problem i have had with the card was the date error message. Put the date back a year and it works fine.

Hi and thanks for all your comments.
The main issue it would seem is that you are trying to use an R4i card that is not certified to work on the Nintendo DSi that has been upgraded to, or has already been pre-loaded with the DSi 1.4 firmware. This firmware from Nintendo stops all R4i cards from working that are not compatible.
Your R4i card will have written, on the sticker on the card itself, the words "1.4" - if it does not have this then it is not compatible and will not work in DSi's that are using the 1.4 firmware or above. You will need to purchase a new R4i card such as this one: R4i (1.4 compatible)
All the other issues are software related. We will shortly be posting links in all the sections of this forum to the correct, up-to-date software for all the different R4i cards to help you ensure you are getting the correct one. It is imperative that you use the latest software. Even if you have had the same card before the older software will not work on your new card. The chipset inside may have changed and it requires the latest version. So if you have an old card and are trying to use your micro sd in the new card and it fails then try to download the latest software.
An extra thing to try is to ensure that your date and time is set correctly as, strangely, this can cause problems! :S
Thanks

We have updated all the links to the latest software on our website here: All the latest software kernel links
You either need the software for the R4i card or the R4i Upgrade card - does your card have the words UPGRADE written on it anywhere? If so then use the upgrade software, otherwise use just the R4i one.
If it is the Upgrade version then check see this post for more help getting the correct software Finding the software for the R4i Upgrade cards

Hi Ambste,
That's very interesting indeed and very useful to know. How bizarre though! If you ever find any more about this weird behaviour let me know! Could it be that a network home plug is causing interference? BT used to ship with those but have heard that they had stopped due to the interference they can cause.
