I have 2 cards. The first had a red box packaging and is an R4i upgrade revolution for ds with the website www.R4i-sdhc.com at the bottom. This card has a red interface with r4i sdhc 3 printed on it. The second card, white box packaging (both bought from the same company) has R4i sdhc revolution for ds ndsi ndsl nds with no website address. The back of the card has a yellow interface with r4_8_V1_X6_02 2009.07.14. I cannot find a kernel that is compatible for the card with the yellow interface? I hope that this infor helps.

Hi there, wondering if you can help.. I stupidly enough bought an r4i gold card for nintendo ds with preloaded games on it from Asia... The card is faulty, and they won't offer a refund. So to cut a long story short i tried to format it and start again.. I have done this several times, but some of the files the company had on it are still there??? I'm completely lost.. How do you remove all these files completely? They are not showing on the computer when you finish formatting, just when you put into ds? Please help!
Thanks estelle

Hi,
I bought the red box, R4i-SDHC Upgrade Revolution for DS V1.4 w/ Wi-Fi. My URL is www.R4I-SDHC.COM
I can't tell you how many times I have tried to download the latest kernal, install certain things on the sd card, etc. and failed. One time it worked and I downloaded three games, I thought I had it until the next morning when I went to install more games. I turned the DS lite system on and there was nothing on the sd card; I about died.
I bought my son a DSi for X-Mas is why I bought this kind of red box; was I wrong?
PLEASE HELP....
I'm ready to throw away 5 of these things!!!
Thankx, Dana

Hello. I recently upgraded my firmware on my NDSiXL to V1.4.1U (not realising the possible implications). I purchased a WiFi R4i Upgrade Revolution for DS V1.4 with the console. I have tried using the kernal V1.27b, but to no avail. Do I need to purchase I new R4i card that is compatible with V1.4.1?
However on the R4i-SDHC.com website (http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/downloade.asp) say that products labelled V1.4 do not currently support NDSI V1.4.1 temporarily. Does this mean that they may come up with a kernal to overcome this?
Thanks in advance

Hi
I am new to this forum so forgive me if i have posted in the wrong area but here goes. I have owned a few R4 cards in my time and have replaced them when they have broken for whatever reason.
This time i bought two for the two DS Lites we own from a reputable seller. The version we have are R4i SDHC V1.4.1. I also bought two new SD cards at the same time.
I downloaded the software as per the link provided with my purchases and when i switched it on i went about upgrading the software to V1.4.2.
Unfortunately my 18 months old son got hold of the console and turned it off during the upgrade (ok it was me but lets blame him eh. Honestly it was an accident!!!) Now the damn card wont work at all. I have tried formatting it and reloading the software but it doesn't recognise the card and i get the "touch the touch screen to continue" flashing message on the opening screen (the one before the default clock / Picochat screen).
I read a warning before i tried to download the upgrade that if you powered the console off before the upgrade had finished it might permanently damage the R4 card.
Do you think it is really damaged or is there something i can do to rescue the situation??????? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

yupp.. it works fine on 1.4.3e.. that is until it logs into the games engine, it says its downloading a new kernel and then after the reboot i get the upgrade hardware message, format the sd card and load the files from r4ishopper.com and its sorted i have the card working i just cant use the games engine. as when i do it updates the kernel and that update stops the card. so now using a clean copy of the kernel(driver files) from the retailer i bought the card from and that works.. but the games engine one and the r4i-sdhc.com one doesnt, also.. when the card is working.. the update says "current" working firmware is 1.4.3 and the "new" firmware is 1.4.2 ?

hi, I currently have a r4i ultra card. I have upgraded my dsi version to 1.4.3u. Now the card is not readable, I have updated to the latest kernel version that r4ultra.com has to offer. I have been reading about how to make the card readable again using akaio 1.8.6. When I load this kernel onto the card it is readable on a dsl. I was told to upgrade the card using the dsl but there are no upgrade files on the card. Any suggestions to how to get the dsi to read the card again?

Hi - you have said that the url is www.r4ds.com but that site has no mention of GOLD cards so it is a little confusing. To save to the root of the micro sd card just extract the contents of the ZIP or RAR file that you have downloaded to your empty micro sd card. So if your memory card is on drive E: of your PC you should have something akin to this:

Hi Again,
I found another possible Site for the software for your cards - I updated the R4 GOLD Software page earlier today with the new link: R4 Gold Software
That may be the one for your card as your card has www.r4ds.com written on it.
In any case to extract the ZIP and RAR files follow these instructions that I have just written:
How to extract RAR & ZIP Files
I hope that helps :-)

HI,
Can you confirm that you have unzipped the zip file and transferred all of the files and folders over to your micro SD card as they appear without making additional folders? The problem you have is definitely linked to a issue with the kernel and how it is on your Micro SD card. You have formatted it so this is good. Do you perhaps have an additional micro SD card you can try?
|
|
By R4DSCards Tech - 27/10/2011 16:35:53
|
Hi Dublin,
The error you are describing is linked to the software you have currently on your micro SD card either not being correct or not being correctly placed onto your micro SD card. It could also be that your micro SD card is not "fragmented" correctly to enable your R4i 3DS to read your micro SD card.
I would suggest you cleared your personal files from the micro SD card can formatted the card to FAT32 with the size allocation set to default. The SD association formatter is best for this and will ensure the fragments are correct. Please see the link for details - http://www.r4dscards.co.uk/Forum/Topic84-4-1.aspxOnce you have formatted your micro SD card download the latest software kernel from the manufacturer of your card. This will download in a zip file. Unzip the file and transfer the files and folders as they appear one by one over to your micro SD card. Make sure the transfer has finished before removing the USB reader from your PC. Hopefully your problem will now be resolved. If not then I would suggest you tried another micro SD card.

Can you confirm if you have visited the manufacturers website to see if they have released a later version of the software? The URL (web address) should be clearly marked on your DS card.

So you are trying ot use a R4i 3DS in a DSi console running the v1.4.3 software. I know that this manufacturer r4i-sdhc has released another update only a few days ago and the update file is now in the far right icon on the home screen of the R4i. Previously it was in the GAME directory. Please can you confirm this is the update you have tried? v1.43b. If not, then please try this and hopefully your problem will be solved.

Can you confirm if you have now managed to get this working? Do you have a fwupdate file when you select the games icon on the R4i menu? If so, you can delete this file once the update has been completed to prevent it form trying to update again.

By R4DSCards Tech - 20/08/2011 12:15:40

Lets see if I can help :-)
The problem you have is you need to flash the R4i card to get it to resume compatibility. So yo have the latest kernel on your micro SD card this is good. Now as your console has already been updated to the v1.4.3 software you cannot "flash" the R4i card in this console. You will need an earlier console running v1.4.1 software or earlier, for eg a DSlite is ideal. R4ishopper.com have a great guide for this - |

Hi a.k.dublin,
Have you managed to get your R4 card working without any games on it? If so then great. The game files need to be added individually at the root directory of your micro SD card. Use only the .nds file also. Hope this helps

the best thing to do in this case is to contact the manufacturer of the DS card you have. Kernels can be released quite frequently to resolve problems like this with new games.

Hi there,
When you insert you card into your DS console does it appear that there is no DS card inserted? If so remove the card and blow hard into the slot to remove any debris that may be present. Reinsert the DS card ensuring it is seated correctly. Turn your console on. If it is still not registering then it may be advisable that you contacted the supplier of your card as it may be faulty.

Hi there,
Please provide details of the console you are using it in the the software version currently running on the console? Nintendo have recently released a software update to block these cards, please see the below advice for further information regarding this - Please be aware that Nintendo have recently released a software upgrade for the DSi and DSi XL which WILL block your R4i v1.4.1 from working. The upgrade is v1.4.2.
If you have not yet upgraded to this version then I would advise you help back on doing so until it has been confirmed that all versions are upgradable. To check to see what software is currently running on your console please do the following - On your consoles home screen please select the "spanner" icon. The software version will be clearly shown on the top screen in the bottom right hand corner. You will see that this DSi XL is running on the v1.4.2 software. I can confirm that I have been able to upgrade several R4i v1.4.1 cards to be compatible with the latest software v1.4.2, although you do require another console which has not been upgraded to "flash" your card. R4ishopper.com have done a really good guide to help you through this, please see this link - Guide to Upgrade R4i v1.4.1 to v1.4.2 Here are the latest Software download links for your convenience - |

The loading error that you are receiving is indicative of an error with the loading of your software onto the micro SD card. You are quite right to have tried 2 different micro SD cards, however it if important that they are formatted to FAT32 using the SD formatting association's formatter - |

Please can you let me know what software is currently running on your console? I can confirm that Nintendo have recently released a software update to purposefully try to block these cards.
The software version can be found by selecting the spanner icon in the home screen. The version is clearly seen on the top screen in the bottom right hand corner.

Unfortunately yes, you will need to wait for this update to be released. The best thing would be to suggest you contacted the manufacturer of your particular card to see if and when an update will be released.

In my experience the cards with the number 7 on the reverse have not been successful during the flashing process. I would advise that you went back to where you purchased this from and asked them for further advice.

Hi Estelle - Have you tried the SD formatter from the SD card association?

I'm afraid you will need to purchase the 1.4.1 version of the R4i. The fact that these have been released is a clear indication that a software update alone will not resolve this error.

I would always recommend using the software from the manufacturers site....what errors are you receiving? I have checked this site out and this card is compatible with the 1.4.1software version on the DSi/XL

It sounds like you need to format your micro SD card, please do this in between every software load attempt.
See the link for the best way to do this -
