I bought an R4i Upgrade V1.4 (R4I-SDHC). I've already formatted, downloaded, extracted all files 3 times. Each time with the same result. I even went and bought a 4GB micr to replace my 1GB I already had. On both cards, the software is titled "Star Wars" on the DS menu, when I select it the R4I menu displays. When I select a game, "Saving Game File" appears and freezes the DS. I have tried it on both DS Lite, and DSi. Can anyone help?

Hi
First of all the fact that it shows as Star Wars is by design so don;t worry about that - this is just a way that the R4i manufacturers get around the latest DSi 1.4 firmware.
Are you sure it completely freezes the DS? If you leave it along time does the game actually load? We have heard reports of some micro sd cards taking ages to load games - you think it has frozen but its just taking along long time to load.
What is the brand of micro sd you are using? Sandisk is the recommended brand for R4 cards.
Many Thanks

Hello,i have the same problem with a 2GB micro SD. I have done the format like discribed above, without result. Brand R4 = R4i SDHC revolution (v1.4). Brand micro SD = one is Kingston and another was delivered with the card (no brand) Any suggestions? PS: with an micro SD of 8GB i don't have this problem. Regards, Nico

Forgot to say, it's with each game and if you wait long time the game starts.

We have heard that Kingston cards have an issue with performance in some instances - and it depends where the Kingston card was manufactured - Japan or Tawian. Strange but true!
We have not tried this but the work around we have been advised is to format the card using the official SD association formatter. For instructions please read this: Formatting your Micro SD
Can you give this a try? Let us know what you find...
Many Thanks

I have a Sandisk, I started with a 1GB that I had from a while back, but went ahead and upgraded to a 4GB (Micro SD HC). It's loads software much faster, but it still looks like it freezes. I'll try puting it down, and see how long it takes to load. It'll suck if its anything longer than a minute though, because the purpose of starting up the DS/DSi is to play...Thanks for the posts.

Hi, I also have this problem. I've just purcased the card, it's the R4i upgrade,v1.4 (in a red box) I've reformatted the card as explained (i'm using a 2gb card unknown brand.) when I select the game it comes up 'create save file' then appears to have frozen, i've left it for several minutes and still nothing. My dd is desperate to play dsi which she got for her birthday (her first card was faulty so we are now on card 2) soI would be grateful if you could help many thanks leanne

Hi, I left the dsi switched on for over an hour this morning (may even have been longer as I forgot all about it!) nothing happened the screen stayed exactly the same. I know I'm loading the software correctly as I've used R4 cards before, I've downlaoded the lastest software from r4i-sdhc.com. I've ordered a sandisk 4gb card today to see if that sorts it out but if you have any other ideas I would be really grateful. Fingers crossed the new card will work. thanks

Yeah - a new micro sd card may be the answer. Its difficult to say what could be the issue - I know certain Kingston cards (usually 4GB Taiwan Kingston) can be very slow to load games. Can you let me know if the 4GB card fixes the issue for you?
Many Thanks
